Yukio watched as Keith drooped his head and lay his ears flat against his thick hair. Nyshida stared down at the bowl in her hands.
"You have an older brother?" Yukio asked quietly.
Nyshida nodded, "Had. I shall never call him kin again." She whispered. She then stood up quickly and walked away into a room, slamming the door so hard the wood cracked.
Yukio looked over at Keith.
"Sorry about that child. Miss Nyshida does not like talking about Master Domo."
"But why?" Yukio wondered.
"Because he betrayed her."
Yukio cocked his head to the side.
"When Nyshida was very young, she lived with her brother. He was her whole world. If he said "jump", she'd say "how high?" and do it. He had an unnatural hold on her. But one night...they ran into the Maheme. He tried to protect her but was defeated and taken away. When he returned, it had been five years, and he was a different person. Everything about him was dark, including his aura which Nyshida noticed. He tried to persuade her to go with him. She wouldn't go with him, especially since he mentioned that he was now with the Maheme.
"The Maheme had killed their parents when Nyshida was very young so she knew enough as to not trust them. She had always remembered her brother telling her to stay away from them and now he had joined them. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Then she decided that he wasn't her brother. She convinced herself that it was a Maheme pretending to be her brother. So she attacked him full on. But she was not ready for his reaction."
"W-what happened?"
"You remember all those scars on her body?"
"Yes."
"That is what he did to her. He then left her there. He told her that she could have been great and powerful. Now she would be nothing. Her old brother is in charge of the Maheme."
"You mean Master Vam'Domo?"
"Yes. I see he is trying to claim the race of vampires now."
"Isn't he one?"
"No. Nyshida and him are an unknown species. They have similarities to vampires but they aren't vampires."
"So she did not kill me because I remind her of Master Vam'Domo?"
"Yes. Have you ever met him while you were with the Maheme?"
"N-not officially. But I have seen him though most of his face was shadowed, all I saw was his blood red eyes...the same as Nyshida's when she smells blood."
"Did you see anything else on him?"
"He had big wings. He had them folded against his back but they were very big. I could see he had claws on his feet and hands. Also, he had a tail, and his body was some what distorted. It seemed curved in different ways and..." Yukio bit his lip and began to tremble.
"And what Yukio?"
"Blood dripped down him like rainfall. It dripped from his wings as well as his arms and his bare chest. It came from nowhere. But the way it smelled...it smelled dead and wrong. It made me want to vomit. I do not know what he is, or what he use to be, but he is as far away from a vampire or a human, or even a demon."
Keith rubbed his temples for a minute.
Yukio sighed and sat on the circular carpet, listening for Nyshida. He heard glass break but dare not move.
Keith shook his head and mumbled, "Not another window. Kid, get some sleep. I will go deal with Miss Nyshida." He threw Yukio a blanket and entered Nyshida's room. He could smell fresh blood, and before Keith closed the door, he could see blood splattered on the wall and floor. Red eyes on the ceiling, glaring at Yukio but before it could lunge at him, the door closed.
Yukio curled into a ball and covered his ears. He tried to drown out the screeching and yelling from the room. The alien snarls and the sounds of more things being broken.
~~~~~~
Nyshida walked from her room and over to the carpet next to Yukio. He looked over at her face and arms. New cuts and scrapes covered her. He was sure that if she wore shorts, that her legs would be bruised. She went to touch his hair but hesitated and drew her hand back to her chest after she saw him flinch away.
Keith walked over to them and handed them bowls of stew.
"Miss Nyshida, I shall pack your things."
"We are leaving?" Yukio chocked down a potato.
"Yes. The Maheme are onto us. It's only a matter of time before they come here and attack."
"When are we leaving?" Yukio questioned.
"Tonight."
She chugged down a glass of white liquid.
"What, boy?" She looked over at him.
"Have you never seen milk before?" Keith asked, handing him a mug of milk.
"No." Yukio sipped on the milk happily.
For the rest of the day, Nyshida and Keith bustled around, trying to get her weapons in order and viles of liquid packed away or strapped to her thigh. She changed clothes once more.
Keith threw clothes onto the rug for Nyshida. She stripped down quickly and pulled on a short skirt, long enough to hide the strapped viles of liquid on her thigh. Then she pulled on a small black top, and fastened a dark cloak around her neck. She looked over at Yukio.
"Get him some clothes as well Keith."
"Right away Ma'am!"
Keith handed Yukio a cloak, black pants, and a black shirt.
"We need to blend in." Nyshida said to him before he questioned her about the colors.
It was night fall when they were almost ready. Then Keith stopped and sniffed the air.
"Stop, everyone quiet." He whispered, "Intruders."
Nyshida slowly pulled out her sword.
Yukio blew out the candles. It was silent. He watched as Nyshida's eyes slowly turned red in the dark. Keith's white eyes began to glow.
"How many?" Nyshida asked.
"Too many." Keith answered.
"Sounds like a challenge." She snickered.
Then the sound of breaking glass and wood erupted. Yukio watched in horror as small gremlin creatures broke the the windows, followed by the Maheme Secret Army. He watched them all break through the doors, windows, and the ceiling while he coward in a corner.
His vampire eyes watched as Nyshida and Keith fought off the Army and the gremlins.
Nyshida twirled and flipped, jumping and lunging off walls and stabbing every moving thing. Blood smeared and splattered all around them. Piercing screams rang from the gremlins.
Yukio watched Keith put his hands out and set four gremlins on fire. Nyshida laughed evily each time she killed a vampire. Yukio watched her kill a vampire and put her lips to his neck. When she pulled away, blood dripped from her white fangs and down her chin.
She broke her sword into three and put her hand up in the air and yelled, "Fire!". Yukio watched all of the Army's soldiers and all of the gremlins catch on fire.
But then a dark skinned vampire, with black eyes grabbed Nyshida by her neck and held her in the air. This stirred something inside of Yukio. He felt his blood boil as he lunged at the vampire woman. He felt his hand go through her thick skin in her stomach. He felt her ribs break and her spinal cord. He broke everything his hand touched until they hit the floor. He pulled his hand out and began ripping her to pieces. Her blood smeared all over his face, hair, and body. He screamed until all that was left of her were pieces.
He snapped his head around and looked for more. He jumped from vampire to gremlin to vampire, killing and slicing, ripping and breaking them all. He could hear Keith setting them on fire. The smell of buring flesh rose to his nose. When he was on the ceiling, holding himself in a corner to get a view, he fell. He fell to his knees, vomited, then blacked out. The smell of the blood, the burning flesh, and the screams of them all got to him and he couldn't take it.
Nyshida and Keith finished them all off. After they set fire to the house, she ran with Yukio on her back. Keith said he would go hide with family while she ran. She stopped in a cave and lay Yukio out on the dirt floor. She looked over at him from a far corner. His beautiful angelic hair, painted with the color of violence, hurt, distrust, and fear. The color of blood.
Yukio opened his eyes slowly and groaned in pain. His head was pounding. He sat up slowly and looked around. He saw Nyshida sitting in a corner with her head rested on her knees, her eyes closed. He crawled over to her.
"Nyshi?"
Her eyes snapped open, their color was different then he remembered. They were yellow and her pupil was fully dilated.
"You're awake Yukio."
"What happened back there? What happened to me?"
"You awakened your true inner self. You awakened your inner adult vampire."
"I-i did?"
"Yes, but I am curious, what made you react like that?"
"She was going to hurt you. I couldn't let that happen." He lay his head on her lap.
"I can handle myself kid, I am grown up."
He chuckled, "Don't be like that Nyshida. Everyone needs help every once in awhile."
She sighed and poured water on his hair and washed the blood out. He covered her nose and mouth while she did so.
It was times like these when they didn't even need to speak. They seemed to know each other so well. No words were necessary.
When his hair was dry, she ran her fingers through it slowly.
"Where do we go now Nyshida?"
"I guess we go and bring the fight to them. Either that or let them find us. Which is it kid?"
"We should go get them." He smiled a child-like smile. Then his eyes began to droop.
"Then get them we shall. Sleep now Yukio. You'll need it."
"Will you be here when I wake up?"
"Of course." She ran her hand over his face and let him drift into a dreamless sleep.
But he snuck out three words before, "Thank you...sister..."
